Your first AI video
Four nodes, one finished clip. The minimum path through the canvas, with nothing skipped and nothing faked.
What you can do after this
Generate a finished AI video clip from scratch without anyone setting the run up for you.

Start an empty run
Every ad in SHOT.IS lives on a canvas as a graph of nodes. A new run gives you a blank one, with no template to fight.
- 0:09
Write the direction as a prompt node
The prompt node holds plain-English direction: scene, light, camera. It is an input, which means it never regenerates and never costs credits.
- 0:19
Turn the direction into a keyframe
A generate image node makes the still that the shot is built from. Pick the model and the credit cost appears before you commit to it.
- 0:44
Put the keyframe in motion
The generate video node needs two things: the keyframe, which fixes what is in the shot, and a prompt, which describes only what moves. Five seconds is enough to judge a direction.
- 0:59
Play, download, or keep building
A green node holds a real file. Download it as-is, or leave it on the canvas and wire it into an ad in the later lessons.
TranscriptThe same lines are burned into the video as subtitles.
- 0:00This is the SHOT.IS canvas. Every ad you make lives here as a graph.
- 0:04Start with New run — an empty canvas, no template.
- 0:09Add a prompt node. This is your direction, in plain English.
- 0:14"Coffee cup on wet concrete, neon rim light, slow orbit."
- 0:19Now a generate image node. This makes your keyframe.
- 0:24Pick a model. The credit cost shows before you commit.
- 0:29Wire the prompt into the image node and hit Run.
- 0:34Amber while it runs, green when it lands.
- 0:39That's your keyframe — the frame the whole shot is built on.
- 0:44Add a generate video node. It needs the keyframe and a prompt.
- 0:49The keyframe says what is in the shot; the prompt says what moves.
- 0:54Run it. Motion is the slow step, and the expensive one.
- 0:59Green. Press play — the clip runs right on the node.
- 1:04Download it, or keep it and build the ad around it.
- 1:09One video, four nodes. Everything else is a variation on this.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need a keyframe to generate video in SHOT.IS Studio?
Yes. The generate video node takes a keyframe as a required input, which is why the first lesson generates an image before it generates motion. Working keyframe-first is also cheaper: a still costs a fraction of a video, so you judge composition at the cheap step.
How much does the first video cost?
It depends on the model and duration you pick, and Studio shows the credit cost on the node before the run starts. The launch offer covers a single self-serve video at $4.99.
