Fix one shot without re-running the ad

One shot came back wrong. Fix that node instead of the run, because the canvas lets you redo only what broke.

What you can do after this

Repair a failed shot by re-running one node instead of rebuilding the whole run.

Nodes used

  • generate_image
  • generate_video
  • composer

Before you start

  • A run with at least one finished generation. Lessons one and two both leave you with one.

In this lesson

  1. 0:00

Find the node that failed, not the run

A warped label or a broken hand belongs to one node. The instinct to start the run over is the expensive one, and the canvas exists so you do not have to.

  2. 0:15

Change the model or nudge the prompt

Node params open beside the canvas. Different models fail in different ways, so a model swap is often a better first move than a prompt rewrite.

  3. 0:30

    Re-run that node alone

Your prompts and references are inputs: hand-authored, and they never regenerate. Running one node re-bills one generation.

  4. 0:45

    Follow the stale marks downstream

When a node produces a new result, everything built from it is marked stale: still showing the old output, and flagged as out of date.

  5. 0:55

    Resync the ad

Run the stale nodes to bring the graph back in sync. The composer picks up the replacement clip without being rewired.

TranscriptThe same lines are burned into the video as subtitles.
  1. 0:00One shot came back wrong. You fix that node, not the whole run.
  2. 0:05This run has ten nodes. One clip came back with a warped label.
  3. 0:10You don't rebuild the run. You fix the node in place.
  4. 0:15Click the bad node. Its params open on the side.
  5. 0:20Switch the model — different models fail in different ways.
  6. 0:25Or keep the model and change the prompt a little.
  7. 0:30Hit Run on just this node. Nothing upstream re-runs.
  8. 0:35Your references and prompt are inputs. They never regenerate.
  9. 0:40That's why the canvas is a graph and not a timeline.
  10. 0:45When a node changes, everything downstream goes stale.
  11. 0:50Stale means: still showing the old result, marked out of date.
  12. 0:55Run the downstream nodes to bring the ad back in sync.
  13. 1:00The composer picks up the new clip automatically.
  14. 1:05You just paid for one generation instead of the whole run.
  15. 1:10Keep the failures on the canvas — they record what didn't work.
  16. 1:15Clean them up later, or leave them as a reference.
  17. 1:20Fix in place, re-run narrow. That's the studio habit.

Frequently asked questions

Does re-running a node charge me again?

Running a generation node bills that generation, which is why the canvas lets you run one node instead of the graph. Input nodes such as prompt, import, and reference are hand-authored and free to change as often as you like.
